We keep personal data collection to the minimum needed to split a check:
We do not require an account, password, address, last name, or any payment information to use Check Please.
Your information is used to provide the bill-splitting service โ showing items, locking claimed items, and calculating each person's share of the total including tax and tip โ and to operate, improve, and secure Check Please.
Check Please creates aggregated and anonymized insights from the receipts and orders processed through the service โ for example, average spend per guest, how often certain items or categories are ordered, busy times of day, or average party size at a venue.
We may share or sell these aggregated, anonymized insights to restaurants and other business partners to help them understand ordering trends and improve their service. These insights are statistical and do not identify you. They are stripped of names and combined across many checks so that no individual person can be picked out.
In short: we may sell anonymous, combined trends, never you.
Check Please does not process payments or move money between people. We only calculate who owes what. Any actual repayment happens directly between you and your group, outside of Check Please.
Personal bill data (like the first names entered) is kept only as long as needed to let your group finish splitting the check, then removed. Aggregated, anonymized insights โ which no longer identify anyone โ may be retained and used on an ongoing basis.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the EU/UK GDPR.
Because Check Please collects so little personal data and requires no account, there is very little stored about you. To make a request โ including asking us not to include your data in any shared insight โ just contact us and we'll honor it.
Check Please is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13.
If we update this policy, we'll revise the "last updated" date above. Continued use of Check Please means you accept the current version.
Questions about your privacy, or a request to access, remove, or opt out your data? Get in touch and we'll take care of it promptly.
This Privacy Policy is provided for general information and does not constitute legal advice. Selling or sharing data carries specific legal obligations that vary by location โ have an attorney review this policy before launch.
